Head-Up Displays

Head-up Displays

Our Head-Up Displays (HUD) project the essential information directly into the driver’s field of vision without restricting it. The driver’s concentration remains on the road ahead, this not only contributes to higher safety, it also reduces eye fatigue by decreasing the demand of switching focus between the road and instruments.

Benefits

  • Relevant information is moved to the driver’s field of vision
  • Driver fatigue is reduced by removing the need to switch focus
  • Safety is increased because the driver’s eyes remain on the road
  • Had-up displays are a key technology in human-machine communication as they enhance safety and comfort

Windshield HUD

Projected directly on the windshield

Combiner HUD

Projected on a transparent surface independent of angle and geometery of the windshield

Scenic View HUD

A new driving experience with a razor-sharp, high-contrast and seamless display directly in the driver’s field of vision

Augmented Reality HUD

Seamless integration of warnings and messages in the surrounding

Compact Windshield HUD

  • Special Head-Up Display for sports cars
  • Ideal technology particularly suitable for vehicles with limited installation space
  • Outstanding display quality and reliable visualization despite compact design
  • Packaging ~2 liters
  • Weight: <1 kg
  • Super bright display with 10.000 cd/m²
  • Field of View: 4 x 1.2 degrees
  • Projection Distance: approx. 2 meters
  • Head-up displays are a key technology in human-machine communication as they enhance safety and comfort

  • Ideal also for retrofit application (dashboard mount)

Scenic View HUD

  • Visualisation on “hidden obstacles”
  • Visibility with polarize sunglasses
  • Local dimming for reduced power consumption
  • Dedicated WS coating with blackprint
  • Several displays (connected in daisy-chain pattern) are combined to the full width
  • 1000 cd/m² brightness
  • Active area: 300mm x 58mm (typical)
  • Projection distance ~1m

Augmented Reality (AR)

  • In the near future augmented reality (AR) head-up displays will help to make driving even more comfortable and safe. Compared to traditional windshield HUD, the image is enriched with a layer of information right on the street in front of the car. When navigating, for example, a virtual symbol inserted precisely into the exterior view marks the route that the driver should follow on the road ahead.
  • The waveguide technology is an innovative technology currently under development that will help realize head-up displays with drastically reduced packaging volume. It will need less space while at the same time providing a larger image with all the relevant information.
  • The augmented reality HUD is a key technology for automated driving
