Vertical and Urban Air Mobility

Advanced Air Mobility (AAM)

We support the development of unmanned aircraft for the urban space of the future.

A groundbreaking evolution is taking place in the aeronautics industry.

Urban Air Mobility (UAM) or Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) is by no means science fiction or pure fantasy. The principle is simple and consists in the further development of the helicopter. It is quite realistic that these new developments could soon be used, for example, in the context of rescue transports, aid deliveries or the like. For several years now, the aviation industry has been constantly changing towards new and innovative transport concepts. Currently, many electric air vehicles are being developed for urban air mobility. One focus here is on the further development of air cabs that take off and land vertically, so called eVTOLs. The advantages of an eVTOL are obvious: they consist of a reduction in noise emissions of up to 80% compared to a helicopter, they can take off and land vertically in the city in a relatively small area, they are both safer and, above all, they are sustainable.

For Continental Engineering Services, this development offers numerous opportunities, as we have high end proven aeronautic capabilities. We adapt our technical solutions from the automotive industry for comfort and environmental detection to Urban Air Mobility.

We are mastering the Challenges

Our many years of experience in the field of electrical mobility have enabled us to deal with the challenges of Advanced Air Mobility, which include following questions:

  • Which E-drives can I use?
  • How do I optimize my range while in the same time ensuring a comfortable cooling or heating?
  • How to build a high voltage architecture without unnecessary weight?
  • How do I know that the landing site is really empty?
  • How do I avoid colliding with power lines?

With all these questions, we as CES can support you with our automotive and aviation experience and offer tailor-made solutions.

Enhancing Safety and Comfort in Urban Transport

Discover the rising trend of trams, making a comeback as a greener and more efficient option for urban transportation. In densely populated cities, trams are proving their worth, offering exceptional energy efficiency and spaciousness, a refreshing contrast to individual vehicles.

However, navigating bustling urban streets is no easy task for tram drivers, who face unique challenges. Sharing the road with cars, bikes, and pedestrians requires heightened vigilance. Safety is paramount, both for passengers and other road users, as tram collisions can result in significant damage.

To address these challenges, cutting-edge driver assistance systems, inspired by automotive technology, are becoming the way forward. Real-time information and proactive guidance help tram drivers react swiftly to potential hazards, reducing accidents and easing the mental burden.

Follow us and learn how the integration of proven automotive technology in trams is transforming urban transport, enhancing safety, and contributing to a brighter, greener future.
