Continental Engineering Services (CES) is seeking to expand its Driver Assist and Automated Driving (DAAD) business inside and outside automotive. If you are a business development professional with a passion for growing interesting tech business in new markets (Motorcycle, Drones, Agriculture, ADAS, Motorsports, Industrial, etc.), then Continental CES may be the place for you. We are seeking an experienced Business Development Specialist with technical know-how to develop external customer leads and sales opportunities in and outside of the automotive industry.

Your Tasks

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identifies, studies, and documents potential target customers/market opportunities (niche / small series development for automotive / non-automotive applications)
  • Identify realistic and achievable opportunities with customers
  • Process and prioritize customer inquiries. Prepare and execute the negotiations for the new business and defend offer(s)
  • Coordinate customer inquiries/requests within CES internal team
  • Prepares directional offers that include assumptions, content, and cost estimations
  • Provides technical expertise to develop key relationships with external customers and internal customers (Business Units, Finance, Marketing, etc.…)
  • Provide technical and sales support during the acquisition of external projects
  • Support DAAD Segment Leader for business development and expansion of CES in North American
  • Align customer needs with CES DAAD product portfolio
  • Coordinate and manage customer contacts worldwide
  • Attend and manage CES presence at trade shows, fairs, and conferences
  • Identify white spots within DAAD segment and align with the global team key action plans to achieve new business and strategically defined growth targets
  • Develop CES NA strategies for new and existing DAAD CES customers
  • Perform a periodic review of the customer relationship and analyze the benefit of the customer, sales, turnover, and cost

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support for formal offer letters, including project assumptions, pricing, specific goals, terms, and conditions.
  • Support the acquisition lead and key customer interface and support the management of the commercial (quality, delivery, pricing), legal, and critical issues during DAAD project acquisition
  • Present technical presentations to external customers
  • Support Product Life Cycle process
  • Supports receivable issues such as timely payments, tooling reimbursements, etc.…

Your Profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 2-5 years in technical sales and/or business development role
  • Experience with customer negotiations and customer development
  • Must be willing to travel approx. 25% (Including 2 trips to Germany per year)
  • Strong communication skills through emails, phone calls and/or presentations
  • Strong entrepreneurial skills
  • Strong technical skills
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office products
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5-7 years of experience with Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field and Master’s degree in business field.
  • Experience with Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) and associated sensorics
  • Experience with ISO Functional Safety
  • Experience with embedded systems (understanding of hardware and software)
  • Experience with automotive electronics
  • Experience with project management
