UAV RADAR ALTIMETER SRR 308
Overview
SRR 308 Short Range 24 GHz Radar Sensor
Safe – Reliable – Excellent Performance – Minimalistic Design
- The SRR308 is a light weight 24 GHz short range radar sensor
- Measurement of distance, speed and position by using digital formed beams with a F.o.V. (Field of View) of up to ± 75° (± 90°) over mid distances
- Sensor with CAN Interface
Typical Use Cases
- Collision Avoidance
- Landing Assistance
- Terrain Following
- Flight data logging

Challenges for altitude estimation for UAVs
- Barometer: measures MSL instead of AGL
- GPS: less accurate for vertical data, reliant on signal strength
- IMU: drift over time and need reference sensorics
- LiDAR / Ultrasonic: struggles in bad weather conditions, vegetation or reflective surfaces
Benefits
- Robust and reliable sensor in various flight & weather conditions
- Stable height estimation from 1m to up to 150m
- Easy to install and operate, suitable for various drone models
- No calibration nor data fusion necessary
- Detection based filter for stable altitude estimation
- Outputs stable height over ground information
Interfaces
The device is fitted with an optional DRONECAN bus interface. Additional interfaces can be realized using a converter. Software adaption, housing and/or hardware adaption are possible. The SRR 308 can be used for complex measuring tasks.
