Transmission control
Transmission control systems are an essential component of automatic transmissions. Sensors, actuators, control unit and functional software are combined using latest technologies and sophisticated processes to achieve efficient, robust and cost-optimised units. Sensor units measure physical parameters such as speed, pressure, temperature, displacement, angle etc. Actuator units consist of hydraulic or pneumatic valves and electro-mechanical components such as motors and solenoids.
Control devices are the link between sensors and actuators. Using high-performance multicore microcontrollers and ASICs, the demands on previously defined processing performance and functional security are met. The latest technologies in programming and verification are used in our modular function software.

Clutch and gear control
Particular demands are placed on the control and adjustment of clutches and gears: on the one hand, on functional safety for the elimination of any potential malfunctions and on the other hand, on comfort and handling. Because the mechanical components used in transmissions are potentially subject to high levels of stress, functions for compensating for the possible effects of this are required.
Our products
- Clutch and gear control functions are part of the modular functional software for transmission control
- The clutch control functions can be used both for systems with wet or dry systems
- Monitoring functions ensure that only the permitted gears for the current speed range may be selected
- No perceivable change in transmission functionality over life
Your benefits
- Clutch and gear control and regulation functions can be used in the powertrain and transmission control as independent modules
- Reliable control functions configurable for different systems
- Adaptation functions for determining basic parameters at the end of the transmission production line, as well as for continuous operation in the vehicle
Torque distribution
Control functions in the transmission system can distribute the driver-required output torque between individual wheels, should such a hardware system be used in vehicle. In conjunction with electronic stability control (ESP), wheel torque can be either increased or decreased for optimum traction and stability.
Our products
- The on-demand torque distribution is part of the modular function software
- The control functions are available for demand-controlled all-wheel drive and differential-locking systems
- The monitoring concept prevents incorrect torque distribution
- Adaptation functions: no change in functionality despite wear
Your benefits
- Control functions are available as stand-alone modules, for use in both individual units and transmission controls systems
- Control functions can be adapted to specific requirements of the customer vehicle
Driving strategy
Depending on the style of driving and the environmental conditions, drivers of automated transmissions expect to be in the correct ratio at all times. This has to cover all possible driving styles, from economical to sporty, with or without load, and on flat or mountainous terrain.
Our products
- Driving strategy as the decisive factor for corresponding ratio choice
- In-house modules for determining the desired driving behaviour, load, terrain etc.
- Use of predictive data from external devices
Your benefits
- Driving strategy as stand-alone, scalable and expandable modules in powertrain and transmission control systems
- Use of predictive data increases driver acceptance of the nominated transmission ratio
Efficiency strategy
Automatic transmissions and the associated control systems can make a significant contribution to reducing CO2 emissions through lowering energy consumption and weight. A further indirect contribution to the improvement of energy efficiency can be achieved by increasing overall efficiency of the drive train. A reduction in fuel consumption is achieved through the design of control systems with corresponding chipsets and the integration of electromechanical components. Weight reduction results from the choice of material and the reduction of wire connections to sensors, actuator units and the control unit. The functional software combines control and regulation functions that contribute to minimising the power dissipation of the clutches, gear actuators and actuators in order to operate the drive at optimum efficiency.
Our products for realising this function
- Reducing energy consumption through the design of the controls and electromechanical components
- Weight reduction from material selection and minimisation of wiring
- Minimising power dissipation from the clutches, gear actuators and actuators
Your benefits
- Reduction in energy consumption and weight through transmission control design
- Electromechanical components enable need-based operation and increased efficiency
Transmission calibration
An automatic transmission with its associated transmission controls can be used for different vehicles and platforms through appropriate parameterisation. Parameterisation determines the desired transmission behaviour for different configurations in combination with the vehicle and powertrain. Here, additional functions are activated or deactivated.
Our products
- Parameter sets as a separate part of the function software
- The modular architecture of the function software allows independent parameterisation of the modules
Your benefits
- Customer documents describe the systematic procedure for setting parameters or algorithms. These form the basis of the adaptations
- Unique calibrations for production or test benches
- Parameter records can be archived through version control
- Different parties can create aggregated parameter sets at the same time
- Partial parameter sets are interchangeable
