Brake System Layout and Component Recommendation
In the context of vehicle development, the definition of the braking system plays a central role as it is relevant to safety.
We design the braking system of your vehicle in accordance with the applicable legal requirements (ECE R13H, FMVSS, etc.) and your own requirements. In addition to e.g. consideration of the brake force and pressure distribution also calculations for the thermal behavior or the slope holding power of the parking brake.
Based on these results, we will suggest suitable components for the area of wheel brakes and brake actuation in a next step if desired. In addition to the technical data, we also provide the corresponding CAD data if required or take over installation space tests for you in your vehicle environment, including any necessary adaptation designs.
However, we would also be happy to check the braking system you have already defined for its performance, compliance with legal requirements or its thermal load.

Brake System Validation & Evaluation
The actual behavior of the braking system can still only be checked and evaluated in real vehicle installation.
We would be happy to advise you on the scope, procedure and organization of the test, but also offer this service from a single source: from planning and logistics, through implementation, to the final report.

Electronic Parking Brake Application
The parking brake function is mainly represented today by electrical actuators integrated in the wheel brake. The control is based on the cross exchange concept according to VDA guideline 305-100. The ESC system provides the hardware environment as a so-called host, in which a software module tailored to the vehicle and the parking brake component, the PBC (Park Brake Control), controls and monitors the activation of the parking brake.
As Continental Engineering Services, we advise you and coordinate your functional requirements with you and develop a PBC that is optimal for your application and the selected parking brake component.
If you want to put the parking brake and ESC function in one hand, we would also be happy to take on the coordination, integration and final system release of all these components and functions.
